1, Where to find your privacy settings
Account settings: Log in and go to Account > Privacy (or click your profile picture > Settings > Privacy).
Cookie banner: When you first visit the site, use the cookie consent banner to select cookie preferences.
Email footer: Use the “unsubscribe” or “manage preferences” link in any marketing email from us.
Contact form: For other requests (access, deletion, portability), use privacy@petlyguide.com.
2, Cookie and tracking controls
Essential cookies: These are required for core site functions (login, security). You cannot disable essential cookies without affecting site functionality.
Performance/analytics cookies: Help us understand site usage. You can opt out via the cookie banner or your browser settings.
Functional cookies: Remember your preferences (language, display). You can enable or disable these without losing much functionality.
Advertising/personalization cookies: Used to show relevant ads and recommendations. Opt out in the cookie banner, via the advertising preferences in your account, or by using industry-wide opt-out tools (e.g., YourAdChoices).
How to change cookie settings

Later: Click the “Privacy & Cookies” link in the footer to open the cookie control panel.
Browser controls: Adjust or block cookies in your browser settings. Note: blocking cookies may limit some features.
3, Ad personalization and third‑party tracking
Personalized ads: We and our advertising partners may use data to show personalized ads. To opt out, use the cookie banner, your advertising preferences page, or browser/OS-level ad-tracking controls.
Third-party trackers: Some features embed third-party content (social widgets, analytics). Review and manage those through cookie controls or the third parties’ opt-out options.
4, Email and communications preferences
Marketing emails: Opt in or out of newsletters and promotional emails in Account > Email Preferences or the email unsubscribe link.
Transactional emails: Messages about account activity, purchases, or service updates are required and cannot be opted out of.
Frequency and topics: In Email Preferences, choose which topics you want to get and how often.
5, Profile and visibility controls
Public profile: Choose whether your profile, username, and public posts (comments, photos) are visible to everyone, only registered users, or only followers.
Search engine indexing: You can request that your public profile not be indexed by search engines via Account > Privacy, but we cannot guarantee immediate removal from external search results.
Content sharing: Control whether others can share or download your publicly posted photos and content.
6, Location and device settings
Location sharing: You can allow or block location sharing for features like nearby services. Manage this in browser/device permissions and in Account > Privacy.
Connected devices: Review and remove devices or sessions from Account > Security if you see unfamiliar access.
7, Data access, correction, deletion, and portability
Request access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you via Account > Privacy or by emailing privacy@petlyguide.com.
Correct information: Edit your profile or contact us to correct inaccurate data.
Delete account/data: Delete your account in Account > Settings > Delete Account. Some information may remain in backups or to meet legal obligations.
Data portability: Request a machine-readable export of certain personal data you provided to us.
How we handle requests
Verification: We may ask for information to confirm your identity before acting on sensitive requests.
Response time: We aim to respond to data requests within 30 days (or a different timeframe required by local law).
Authorized agents: You may designate an authorized agent to make requests on your behalf; we may need written consent and identity verification.
8, Special rights for EU/UK/California residents
EU/UK (GDPR): You have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, object, and data portability. To exercise these, contact privacy@petlyguide.com.
California (CCPA/CPRA): California residents may request disclosure, deletion, or opt out of the sale/sharing of personal information. Submit requests via privacy@petlyguide.com or our designated request form.
9, Security controls
Two-factor authentication (2FA): Enable 2FA in Account > Security to add an extra layer of protection.
Password management: Use a strong, unique password and update it regularly. You can change your password in Account > Security.
Active sessions: View and sign out of active sessions on other devices from Account > Security.
How we notify you about changes
We may update these privacy settings and controls from time to time. Significant changes will be posted on the site with an updated “Last updated” date and may be communicated by email where required.
