Quick summary
PetlyGuide (petlyguide.com) shows advertising, sponsored content, and affiliate links to help support the site. We aim to be transparent, protect editorial independence, and make sure ads are safe and appropriate for pet owners. This policy explains how ads work on our site, how we label sponsored content, and how we handle relationships with advertisers.
1, Scope
This Advertising Policy applies to all paid promotional content on PetlyGuide, including:
Display ads and banner advertising
Native advertising and sponsored articles
Product reviews and paid placements
Affiliate links and referral programs
Email newsletters containing promotional content
Social media posts that are sponsored or promoted
2, Editorial independence
Separation of advertising and editorial: Our editorial team retains full control over the website’s content and editorial decisions. Advertisers do not dictate editorial content, opinions, or recommendations.
Integrity: Paid partnerships must not influence our honest, factual reviews or best-effort guidance. We will not publish sponsored content that we believe would mislead our readers.
3, Clear labeling and disclosures
Sponsored content: Any article, post, or page that is paid for by an advertiser, created in collaboration with an advertiser, or otherwise sponsored will be clearly labeled (for example, “Sponsored,” “Paid partnership,” or “Advertisement”).
Affiliate links: We disclose when articles or pages contain affiliate links that may earn us a commission if you make a purchase. Disclosures are placed where users can clearly see them (e.g., at the top of the article).
Native ads and promoted listings: Native advertising that resembles editorial content will include a clear disclosure to distinguish it from our independent content.
4, Ad content standards
We review and accept ads that meet the following standards:
Accuracy: Ads must not be misleading, deceptive, or make false claims.
Safety and legality: Ads must not promote illegal activities, unsafe products, or items restricted in major markets (e.g., illegal drugs, weapons).
Pet safety: We will not accept advertisements for products or services that may reasonably be expected to be harmful to animals or that deliberately encourage unsafe practices.
No hateful or discriminatory content: Ads must not contain hate speech, discriminatory content, or promote harassment.
Respectful imagery: Ads should not display graphic violence, abusive imagery, or exploitative content involving animals.
5, Health, medical, and legal claims
Veterinary or medical claims: Advertisements that make specific medical, diagnostic, or health treatment claims about pets must be supported by reliable evidence and appropriate qualifications. PetlyGuide reserves the right to reject ads making unverified medical claims.
Supplements and nutrition: Ads for supplements, diets, or health products may be subject to additional review and must not promise guaranteed cures or unsubstantiated benefits.
6, Affiliate relationships and sponsored reviews
Transparency: If a reviewer or author receives compensation, free products, or other incentives from a brand, we disclose that relationship.
Honest reviews: Sponsored reviews should be honest and based on the reviewer’s genuine experience or testing. We may publish sponsored content only when it meets our editorial standards and is clearly disclosed.
7, Third‑party ad networks and programmatic ads
Network screening: We work with ad networks and demand partners for programmatic advertising. We make commercially reasonable efforts to filter inappropriate or malicious ads, but we cannot guarantee absolute control over each third‑party creative delivered through programmatic channels.
Malware and redirects: If an ad is found to contain malware, deceptive redirects, or other harmful behavior, we will remove it promptly and take corrective action with the ad provider.
8, User controls and privacy
Personalization: Some ads may be personalized based on cookies, device data, or other information. You can manage ad personalization and cookie preferences via our Privacy Settings and cookie controls.
Third‑party tracking: Advertisers and ad networks may collect information through their tags and pixels. Their data practices are governed by their own policies, and we encourage users to review those policies.
9, Complaints and removal requests
Reporting ads: If you see an ad on PetlyGuide that appears inappropriate, misleading, unsafe, or otherwise violates this policy, please report it to us at advertising@petlyguide.com. Include a screenshot, URL, and description of the issue.
Removal: We will investigate reported ads and, where appropriate, remove or block the ad and take action with the advertiser or ad network.
10, Promotional content from users
User-submitted promotions: We do not allow users to post commercial promotions, affiliate links, or solicitations in comments, reviews, or community sections unless expressly permitted. Such posts may be removed and repeat violators may be suspended.
Acceptable formats: If we permit user promotions in certain sections, they must follow clear rules, disclose affiliations, and be pre-approved.
11, Disclosures required by law
Compliance: Our sponsored content and advertising disclosures follow the guidelines and legal requirements in jurisdictions where we operate (for example, FTC guidance in the U.S.). We will update disclosures to remain compliant with applicable advertising laws.
12, Changes to this policy
We may update this Advertising Policy to reflect changes in advertising practices, laws, or platform needs. Material changes will be posted with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
